Here’s what people are saying about the book:

A lovely story about ingenuity, cooperation, friendship and sharing. Katie badly wants to make pancakes but she’s not allowed in the kitchen. She won’t let that stop her though. From her collection of loose parts and other found objects, Katie and her new friend Baxter together build an amazing pancake making machine. It works so well it makes more pancakes than they can possibly eat. What can they do, but share them with neighbours and friends. If your little ones love pancakes, they’ll love this book by Cynthia Mackey.

This is a fun read for kids and features a main character who is very inventive and persistent. The recurring refrain helps younger kids get involved with the reading experience. The book includes a pancake recipe at the back that was quite different to the one my family uses. We tried it out, and it does indeed produce “golden brown, fluffy as a cloud, perfectly round pancakes”.

Ok. Now I want to eat pancakes!!! 🙂 This is a cute story with colorful, eye catching illustrations! Loved it!

  1. Hi Cindy, What a great contest. Did you know though, that you don’t have a tweet button for sharing the post. Having a button would make it much easier to share on Twitter.
Also, I wondered if you’d mind linking my name to my readilearn website instead of my Amazon sign-in page. That would be helpful to me. 🙂
I see that, as an Australian, I can enter this competition. Yay! The best thing about summertime for me is swimming. 🙂
    Thanks for a great competition.

    1. Hi Norah, Thanks for your comments! Oops! I forgot to make the links to twitter again. I am still just figuring so many of these things out but I’ve come a long way since I first started this blog a couple of years ago. And it is people like you who have helped me out so thank you! I am happy to put a link to your redilearn website now and wish you every success with the website! You are most welcome and I’m so happy to open up this giveaway internationally! Good luck!

  2. Hi Cynthia – your book looks beautiful! My mum inspired a life long appreciation of children’s picture books and their role in our lives and whether I can win one in your give away or not I will be chasing this one up – I also have a strong interest in how we inspire children and their parents to value innovative thinking! By the way your Twitter link would appear to be @mackey_cynthia not vice versa as shown above. I am another Aussie and for me the best of summer is long warm evenings when we can gather as a family and picnic outdoors – not at the moment with temperatures dropping rapidly as the sun goes down but the joy of winter is warm fires and good books!

    1. Thanks so much for all your comments! I’m really excited to have the book out there and the reactions from the children I know who have read it so far. I know one family with a set of twins and every night they both want a turn to bring the book to bed! Good luck!
