Books in Progress

After reading countless stories to children I am jumping into the world of writing and self-publishing! For more information, check out my new Author Website!

My first picture book in progress is titled “Katie Shaeffer, Pancake Maker“.  I was inspired to write a story that features a strong female lead character.  Because pancakes were such a part of my family tradition particularly when our children were young, I wanted to write a story featuring some type of machine that would make the whole process easier somehow.  I was also inspired by  “Loose Parts Theory”  which is outlined in this beautiful book Loose Parts: Inspiring Play in Young Children  by Lisa Daly and Miriam Beloglovsky with photographs by Jenna Daly.

Originally, “Katie Shaeffer, Pancake Maker” was a story I wrote to read aloud to my preschool classes.  I had always envisioned it with illustrations and am so excited to have found Paula Nasmith who has dreamed of making beautiful illustrations for children’s picture books.  She has been happy to take on the project.  We are both new at this whole creating picture book process so this may take some time, but eventually it will be out there for anyone to enjoy!

Other works in progress include:  Dawson and the Monsters, Gillian’s Tree, the sequel to Katie Shaeffer, Pancake Maker and The Campground Adventure.
